Orange Bellied Parrot Earrings

Grab a pair of unique Australian earrings while supporting endangered species recovery. 

This critically endangered small parrot’s estimated wild population is less than 100, with just over 300 in captivity.  Known for its migration between its breeding sites in south-western Tasmania and non breeding foraging sites along coastal saltmarshes between Goolwa and southern NSW.  The species faces many ongoing threats, including a loss of foraging habitat, genetic bottleneck effects and predation from introduced sugar gliders.  Fortunately, there is a dedicated recovery team made of government and non government partners, who are slowly but surely increasing the population.

Each piece in our rare species range is delicately hand painted on a timber base and carries its own unique characteristics. Due to this some minor variations from the pictured product are to be expected.

Each piece from the endangered species range is designed by me (Nat) on Adobe Illustrator following a sketching session on my iPad.

From there I laser cut it on my handy at home machine on to a piece of timber, then hand sand each side for a smooth finish.

Each piece is then hand painted with premium acrylic paint and varnished on both sides. Lastly they are secured to their respective fittings with super strong jewellery specific glue or attached to high quality metal fittings.

Our items are handcrafted, laser cut and assembled in our home in Nairne, South Australia.
